Thor: The Dark World” opens in theaters in November; the first trailer will be released next week
This
demigod is ready to rock.
On Friday, Marvel and
Disney unveiled the first teaser poster for Thor: The Dark World, the follow-up to the 2011 blockbuster
starring Chris Hemsworth as the Nordic super hero.
“It doesn’t get much
badder than Chris Hemsworth as Thor,” Marvel president of production Kevin Feige told USA Today.
“It’s rare that you
have a poster that is just Chris Hemsworth shooting on the set . . . but he
just looks like Thor. We just put in some lightning, and he’s got his hammer
and you’re there. It’s just an incredibly striking image.”
The film, directed by Alan Taylor (whose resume includes episodes of Mad Men and Game
of Thrones), will also see the return of Natalie
Portman as Jane
Foster,
Tom Hiddleston asLoki,
Idris Elba as
Heimdall, Kat
Dennings as
Darcy Lewisand a slew of others.
Christopher
Eccleston (of Doctor Who fame) will portray the villain
Malekith the Accursed.
Thor: The Dark World opens in theaters on Nov. 8, some six
months after the release of another Marvel film: Iron Man 3.
